One of the biggest benefits of being the parts division of a restoration company is the fact we can use & modify our products in situ, giving us immediate feedback on products we develop and manufacture in house.
An example of this is our LED dash light replacement kits, which have had an amazing response. We’re often asked however, why we do not include replacement clock globes in our XW-XY & XA/XB kits and this is due to the poor design of the VDO clock itself (early XW Clocks with the pigtail can purchase our LED Clock Globe already).
As we all know, with a standard globe fitted, illumination is almost non-existent and upgrading this to an LED emits a little bit more light, however the output is still limited. So we did some R&D and designed a standoff and pigtail that made upgrading to an LED worthwhile. Manufactured in-house these stand-offs are designed to replace the original globe holder and are supplied with a green LED globe pre-fitted.
Simply undo the two nuts that hold the original holder in place and switch the holder to the new stand-off. As you can see from the photos (standard globe left, stand-off right), the results are chalk and cheese!
These units have been tried and tested for the last few months in-house and will be available in the coming weeks 🙂
